brigid & jim at franklin plaza (albany, ny wedding photographer)
All weddings are special events–that’s why we’re in this business, and that’s why our clients hire us. Goes without saying. Still, there are some events where absolutely everything clicks, the people are awesome, the locations are beautiful, the other vendors are great to work with, etc., etc. Well, guess what…Brigid & Jim’s wedding last Saturday was definitely one of these! We had a ball all day with them, their families, the wedding party, and all the guests…truly a great affair. We did have a few weather-related “challenges” to deal with, but not really a big deal. And of course, it never hurts when the bride and groom make a truly gorgeous couple!
So, to start the day, we arrived at Brigid’s parents’ house, and there’s our good friend Alayne Curtiss, and her Make Me Fabulous crew (including our bride from last New Year’s Eve, Ashley!), hard at work. It’s always comforting to see them on the job, partly because we know everybody is going to look “fabulous”, and partly because they totally get the importance of being finished with their part on time. Shortly after we arrived, Al Woodard showed up; he’s definitely one of my favorite videographers to work with in the area. Always cool, never in our way, super talented at what he does, and he’s the nicest, funniest guy you’d want to know. Steve from Surroundings Floral Design completely outdid himself–their work is always spectacular, and this was no exception. Wait til you see! Brigid’s gorgeous Lazaro dress came from Angela’s Bridal–it was absolute perfection on her! I’m sure you’re getting the idea here, right?
But…it just kept getting better! St. Mary’s church in Albany is not only beautiful, but it had special meaning for Brigid & Jim, as her parents, Suzanne & Peter, were married there, too. Fr. Provost’s service was eloquent and personal, and was a real high point of the day. Now comes the part where the weather came into play, as it was raining lightly, with a cold wind to make it feel really unpleasant. I had scouted out some covered locations nearby, so we headed to the Empire State Plaza–again, you’ll see what I mean, but we had some serious wind gusts to fight. Worked out great there, though, because Brigid & Jim were totally into every idea we had, and the entire wedding party was totally on board! Thanks, everybody!
Then we were off to Franklin Plaza–it’s always a pleasure to work there, because they do everything so well, and it’s just a great location for photos. Greg Cushman and his staff were on top of everything, as always, but Brigid’s mom Suzanne’s attention to all the details made it especially beautiful. Then (this is my last vendor shout-out, I promise), New York Players absolutely rocked the house, from beginning to end. Nobody does it quite like the Players!
Enjoy the photos–I hope our efforts to record the day and create the memories for Brigid & Jim give you even a small idea of the joy they so clearly felt. All our best to a fantastic couple!

She looks pretty fabulous all the time, imo, but Alayne made her look even better than usual!

See what I meant about the work Surroundings Floral did?

Definitely a great bunch of bridesmaids...oh, and a great bride, too!

Love these...but then, I kind of love them all.

Jim is just as nice and fun to be around as Brigid--love this guy!
