brittany & josh, saratoga national golf club, saratoga springs, ny
Where can I even begin about this awesome couple and their incredible Saratoga wedding day? I’ve known Brittany’s family for years, and love them all, so I knew this was going to be a great day. But you never really know how great it will be until the day arrives and you get down to business.
So first, let me take you back to Brittany & Josh’s NYC engagement session from last year. Click here for a reminder of what a great shoot we had. This was the first time I really had the opportunity to spend time with Josh, and it was great getting to know him. All the women in Brittany’s family have big personalities, and while Josh is quieter, he definitely holds his own with the well-timed comment here and there.
The wedding day was pretty chilly, but wasn’t too crazy. (Could it be that my parka, hat, and hand warmers helped???) We started out at the new Embassy Suites in Saratoga–turned out to be a great choice. The getting-ready photos (with the always fabulous Make Me Fabulous crew on hair and makeup duty) were super fun. Oh, and our good friend Al Woodard was shooting video, too…it’s always such a pleasure working with this true master of his craft. But…I will say, the fun really got started when we left the hotel, heading to the Avenue of the Pines for our bride and groom’s First Look. Oh. Yes. I always remind our couples to live in the moment, especially in this part of the day, but I can say that purely from my perspective as a photographer, Brittany and Josh slayed this thing! To me, the best people photos are often about real moments shared, and this was a truly great moment in their day.
From there, we moved on to portraits in the Saratoga Spa State Park, and more fun when we added in Brittany & Josh’s really cool wedding party. From the arches at the Hall of Springs, we headed over to Saratoga National, and we were lucky enough to have weather that allowed us to do more bride and groom portraits out on the golf course. I always say that I’m not much of a fan of shooting on golf courses, but SNGC has the best locations for photos of any course I’ve seen…and you’d never know you were anywhere near golfers. The beautiful ceremony, held in the main lobby area of the clubhouse, was performed perfectly by Josh’s cousin Anne…it’s always such a nice touch when it can be as personal as this one was. Cocktails, amazing Mazzone hors d’oeuvres, some truly touching speeches by Brittany’s dad John and sister Nicole, and Josh’s brother Jake, then dinner, dancing (did I mention the talented DJ Paul Malo was on hand to keep people moving???)…and what???…our day was over?
We had a truly great time working with Brittany & Josh and their families and friends. This is an awesome couple, and we sincerely wish them all the best for a lifetime of happiness together. Hope you all enjoy our story of their day.
