dee & fergus at gurney’s inn, montauk, long island
I love getting to know the unique aspects of every couple’s story, but sometimes, the stories are nothing short of amazing. So…in his first message to me, Fergus referred to a “secret wedding”, which he was planning from Ireland, where they live. That got my attention, but I still didn’t understand at that point that he meant it was a secret from everyone, including Dee! There’s more to all this—Fergus and I had a pretty amazing email exchange going—but suffice it to say that he pulled off something really beautiful, in every way.
Dee loves the ocean, so what better place than Montauk, right! When they arrived in NY from Dublin, Fergus had made all the arrangements for a shopper at Bloomingdale’s to help Dee find her dress; he had (really gorgeous) rings made; the minister was booked; the florists had their instructions; and they had a very cool cottage on the beach at Gurney’s Inn. If you’ve never been out to Montauk, it’s worth the trip, as the beach there is as beautiful as they come. There were lots more details I won’t even mention here, and Fergus had thought of all of them.
So far, this story is all about Fergus, so we were really excited to meet Dee on the day of the wedding. She turned out to be 100% fun and warm and just full of energy. Not to mention absolutely beautiful! We spent the afternoon shooting on the beach and then drove into East Hampton, too. When it was time for the ceremony, we did a 1st Look, when Fergus saw Dee for the first time in her wedding dress. The sun was half out for the ceremony, and the light was spectacular. Maybe the coolest of many amazing moments that day was seeing Dee’s face as Fergus put the ring on her finger—needless to say, she liked it!
Enjoy the photos, and join me in wishing this amazing couple all the best for a lifetime of happiness together.
