christie & matt at st. henry’s in averill park, and the chatham fairgrounds

Sometimes, I simply find myself at a loss for words. Christie & Matt’s incredible wedding leaves me almost speechless, as I sit here and try to convey to you what an amazing day it was. From the very beginning, when we arrived at Christie’s parents’ beautiful home, we could feel an energy level that was truly fabulous to be around.

Ultimately, the style and spirit of every wedding I’ve ever been a part of largely comes down to the bride. Christie has a flair for life that’s unique and cool and just plain fun, and everybody around her feels it. I think you’ll see it in the photos! One of the ways this shows most is in the choice of venue for the reception. There are a lot of great places to choose from in the area, but Christie wanted something different, and the Chatham Fairgrounds filled the bill, big time!

One of the coolest parts of the day for me was between the ceremony and our arrival at the Fairgrounds—we made a couple of stops for wedding party photos and bride & groom portraits. You don’t always have the opportunity to shoot in locations like these, or a bride and groom who are so into doing what it takes to make great photos, but it all came together for us on this day!

I want to give a big compliment here to Christie’s mom Barb—what she did to make this wedding everything it could be is truly amazing. I can’t imagine the hours spent on every detail, but man, did it ever pay off! You’ll see what I mean below. Also, Christie’s matron of honor, and childhood neighbor and bff, Brigid, can also be found on our blog, as we shot her (also spectacular) wedding a couple of years ago.

And finally, shoutouts to our fellow vendors—Christie’s gorgeous dress was from Angela’s Bridal, Matt and the guys looked super sharp in their Men’s Wearhouse tuxes, The Old Daley Inn catering was great, cocktail hour entertainment was provided by The Nellies bluegrass band (what a great touch this was!), and then TS Ensemble rocked the house—the dance floor was packed all night! And it’s always nice to see our old friend Rick Califano show up with his video gear.
